Dwight Hudson for Metro Council District 9

Meet Dwight

A lifelong resident of East Baton Rouge Parish, Councilman Dwight Hudson has built a consistent record of advocating for lower taxes and good government reforms.

Dwight is happily married to Stacy Nason Hudson. They have two girls, Sarah (5), Grace (2), and a rescue dog named Lagniappe or “Yap” for short. As active members of their Church, Dwight and Stacy participate in Bible studies, completed leadership training, and Dwight volunteers on the ServeTeam and they have twice served as missionaries to Haiti.

Good government and lower taxes have always been a passionate pursuit for Dwight. As chairman of the “Beat the Bond” campaign, Dwight led the effort to defeat nearly $1 Billion in new taxes which included funding for the controversial “Alive” Riverfront Development in downtown Baton Rouge. Dwight also served on the leadership team for TaxBusters during their efforts to defeat the CATS Tax. In more recent years Dwight has become an advocate for the creation of an independent school district in southeast Baton Rouge and for the allowing citizens in the southeast portion of the parish the opportunity to vote on the City of St. George.

Dwight holds a bachelors degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in Criminal Justice. Dwight was named the Outstanding Graduating Senior in Criminal Justice and was inducted into the Alpha Phi Sigma National Criminal Justice Honors Society. Dwight has gone on to become a successful small businessman where he has gained an even greater appreciation for the importance of a good business climate.

Dwight works tirelessly on behalf of the residents in Metro 9 with a special focus on traffic and crime issues. Please read the “Solutions” page to find out more about the positive reforms that Dwight works to bring to the East Baton Rouge Parish Metro Council.
