“It is the official announcement and I am so honored to be a part of it.”

He continued with a few comments about running for office:

“You and I on occasion have thought about, entertained the notion of, considered, jumping into the arena of elected office. And for many of us it was just that, a passing thought.

Well today on The Clarence Buggs show have the very distinct privilege and pleasure of talking with a guy that has decided to pull the trigger.

I want to welcome in Dwight Hudson, a guy that many of you know…young man… that has decided to take the plunge.”

Dwight had the opportunity to share his hopes for his campaign and the kind of councilman he wants to be:

“My plan as a Metro Councilman… we’re gonna run…this is the theme we’ve set for our campaign… James 1:19… We want to be “quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.” I don’t think we need loud mouth politicians. We don’t need people that are going in there with overarching political agendas trying to move to the next higher office. We want to go out there and we want to listen to people.”

“Was there any one thing in particular that said to you “Dwight, it’s time to off the sidelines and get in the game?”

His response was:

“Absolutely. Yea. Her name is Sarah Emily Hudson. She is almost 10 months old and she is right on the other side of the glass. In East Baton Rouge Parish we are looking at quality of life issues. We’ve got to fix the crime problem, traffic, and education problems. Look, I want to set up for the next generation. I want to lay the framework for the next generation to be able to prosper in East Baton Rouge Parish. That’s what it’s all about. I’m trying to make a great place to raise my daughter and then for her to one day raise her own kids here.”
